Reza khodadadi
Reza Khodadadi (born February 26, 1961, in Ardabil, Iran) is a renowned Iranian contemporary artist, painter, sculptor, muralist, academic, and writer. He is especially recognized for his pioneering work in public and urban art, including large-scale murals that have transformed the visual landscape of Iranian cities.
Khodadadi holds a Ph.D. in Art Research, with a specialization in public and urban art. He is a professor at Tehran University of Art and serves as the president of the Farabi International Campus. His academic work focuses on the theory and practice of mural art, and he has authored numerous books and research projects in this field.
Khodadadi has created and supervised the execution of many public artworks across Iran. His murals often incorporate traditional Persian motifs with modern techniques, aiming to beautify urban environments and engage the public with art in everyday spaces.
He has written extensively on the subject, including the influential book "Mural Techniques", and a multi-volume series titled "Urban Rules and Regulations of Beautification", which covers various mural styles such as mosaic, painted tile (haft rang), broken tile, clay relief, stone relief, and concrete murals.
Khodadadi has held solo exhibitions in prominent Iranian galleries such as Golestan Gallery, Haft Samar Gallery, and Mah Art Gallery, and has participated in over 140 group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. He is also an honorary member of the Iranian Institute for the Development of Contemporary Visual Arts and has served as an official expert in artistic affairs for the Iranian judiciary.
His work continues to influence the development of public art in Iran, blending aesthetic innovation with cultural heritage.
