Mohammad Ehsai (born 1939 in Qazvin, Iran) is a distinguished Iranian artist known for his mastery of calligraphy and calligraphic painting. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University, where he later became a professor and played a key role in establishing the graphic design department.

Ehsai’s work is characterized by a fusion of Persian calligraphy, modernist abstraction, and graphic design. His compositions often feature intricate arrangements of letters and words, transforming traditional calligraphy into dynamic visual expressions. He is credited with pioneering the use of calligraphy as a personal artistic medium, notably in his 1968 work Khayyam’s Knots, which marked a significant shift in Iranian calligraphic painting.

Throughout his career, Ehsai has participated in numerous exhibitions in Iran and internationally, earning recognition for his contributions to contemporary art. His works have been displayed in prestigious venues and have been featured in major auctions such as Christie's, Bonhams, and Phillips.
