Homayoun Salimi (born 1948 in Tehran) is an Iranian painter, printmaker, and academic known for his contributions to geometric abstraction in Iranian contemporary art. His works are characterized by repetitive geometric patterns, inspired by Persian architectural elements, and a deep exploration of harmony, balance, and simplicity.

Salimi began his artistic journey at the Mirak Tabrizi Conservatory in Iran before continuing his education in France. He earned a Diploma of Higher Education from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and later obtained a Ph.D. in aesthetics and sciences of art from the Sorbonne University. His academic background provided him with a strong foundation in both traditional and modern artistic techniques.

Upon returning to Iran, Salimi became a faculty member at the Tehran University of Art, where he played a significant role in shaping the next generation of Iranian artists. He has held numerous exhibitions both in Iran and internationally, showcasing his unique artistic vision.

Salimi is recognized as one of the foremost exponents of geometric abstract art in Iran. His works often feature rhythmic repetitions of geometric forms, such as diamonds, stars, rectangles, and squares, creating a sense of visual harmony. His use of acrylic paint allows him to maintain a painterly quality while emphasizing the geometric foundation of his compositions.

His early paintings had a style reminiscent of Persian miniature art, but over time, he transitioned toward pure geometric abstraction, influenced by Iranian architectural motifs. His approach to art is deeply rooted in the idea that repetition and structure can evoke a sense of tranquility and order.
